Technical Specifications, ProSol 1.0 (Solid Prototype)

Prosol is an extension of the NUT project, it uses a voxel matrix generated by NUT as a data input.

Prosols objective is to obtain the physical description of the solid model from information obtained using tomographical technologies. based on X-rays or magnetic resonance. The physical model is obtained later using synthesized  laser technology.

The application must pass the voxelised format to the internal format of the machine that carries out the synthesis (CLI format). This format describes the geometry using a collection of poly-lines that rest on a discrete set of layers. It is used for the input of data for the fabrication of models using layer making technologies. CLI is a format that avoids ambiguity.

Owed to the problem centered around a clinical skull tumor, the application must resolve the added problem of the artificial connection between the tumor and the skull. In order to facilitate the establishment of the connections it must be allowed to choose a plan in which it will place the connections.

Bearing in mind the characteristics of the rapid prototype across the technology of rapid synthesizing, the application must obtain the orientation of the figure whose area of support is minimum. The construction of the figure will begin at this point.

Finally it must generate a file in the format CLI whose content will be the figure of the skull tumor and the connections, broken down into collections of poly-lines. These poly-lines are grouped into layers. This file will serve as an input to the machine that takes care of the generation of the physical object. During the breakdown of the figure into layers, it will permit the visualisation of the content of each layer, followed by the simulation of the production process.
